From the archives (but relevant again…)
To show we are still down with the kids, we were at a gig a couple of weeks ago. An exciting new act whose first album was released in * checks notes * 1993. Ah… Anyway, seeing Brett Anderson rolling back the years reminded us of his most recent release: Death Songbook.
How is this relevant to photography and why are we writing a blog about it? Well, let us explain… Death Songbook is a collaboration between Brett Anderson and the Paraorchestra, led by Charles Hazlewood. Wherein lies our link.
A few years back, we were working at an event (in Paris, no less). And the keynote speaker was Mr Hazelwood himself. We had the pleasure of listening to his inspiring story (honestly, the story of setting up the paraorchestra is uplifting, even to a stonehearted monster like us) while taking photos of him onstage. And throwing himself into his conducting.
What do we love about these shots? The dynamism, the enthusiasm and the way he holds the audience’s attention… It makes our work much more dramatic!
