Is there something going on in Paris?

A collage of 3 images from Paris, including the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, and two images of a 30m LED screen in a hotel meeting room

Not that we’re distracted by anything on the television at the moment (and definitely not annoyed at having to cough up for a subscription to a streaming service just to watch live streams of every event, which we will cancel promptly on August 12th), but there seems to be something going on in Paris at the moment (and its surrounding regions, such as * checks notes * Tahiti…

But all this Olympic fun - honestly, we don’t have an iPad next to us right now with the slalom canoeing on. A sport we obviously watch day-in, day-out - reminds us of one of our favourite shoots of all time. And an excuse to post some images from it (back in 2018).

Why is it one of our favourite shoots? Well…

  • It’s in Paris! Not that we got to go out and see much of Paris at all. But, Paris. And, crucially, the planners haven’t allowed skyscrapers everywhere, which means you can see the landmarks from much of the city. Including the from the bar of the meeting hotel. (In contrast to London. I love London and have done since moving here 30 years ago. But the skyline is a disaster if you want see the actual landmarks and not another glass tower…)

  • The client had a huuuuge LED screen, which looked amazing. So much so that we have an image of the stage as our hero shot on our homepage.

  • It was an internal company meeting, which meant that they could go all out with the razzle dazzle (see above, re: the big screen)

  • The end clients were amazing. They knew they had an amazing stage setup (noted above) in an amazing place, and had fun with it.

  • It was during the (football) world cup (not the last one. The one before that…), and France their semi-final on the night of the meeting. Paris was bouncing (and the car horns non-stop)

  • Our clients - the event managers (to be fair, this was just a small part of their role in the whole meeting) - were, as ever, amazing. We’ve worked with them on numerous occasions and they always deliver for their clients (which makes our job easier), know (and articulate) what they need from us, and are brilliant and professional and a joy to work with

  • It’s Paris!

Of course, we love our events everywhere. But beautiful meetings in iconic locations make our job so much more fun (and easier to get beautiful shots)!
